Fruits of Seeds Planted

Last year I went on a women's retreat with one of my sisters church groups. It was suppose to be a wonderful time for everyone but it turned into a religion bashing secession with the Mormon church getting the biggest bashing by a lady that had left the Reformed Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints. It was hideous and insulting. When I saw that my sisters were getting angrier by the moment and were about to explode , I decided that I'd better stand up and say something and so I did. I basically bore my testimony about the truthfulness of the Gospel and how it had changed my life for the better. I also shared truths from the Bible and why it was not right to be judging without knowing the truth. I warned them not to judge the church until after they had read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it. Seeds planted!

Fast forward to this week- I have been staying with Cecilia on days that I work. Cecilia has been expressing her dissatisfaction with her church and others and has been asking all kinds of questions about the Mormon Church. She apologizes for asking so many questions and says that she hopes she is not offending me. I told her that questions do not offend me. What offends me is when people say thing without finding out the truth first. The problem that I am having is finding all the references fast enough to answer all her questions before she is on to another question. She wants to know where to find doctrine to support our beliefs in the Bible. She admits that she does not understand the Bible very well and gets confused by it. This is when I wish I had my scriptorian family close by.. I know the answers are there and I can remember the words but not their location. I have my Book of Mormon with me in town but since Cecilia has many Bibles in her home so I left my Bible at home- I miss the concordance. I told her that any of my family would love to answer her questions. She is not ready for the missionaries yet!
She and I are going to read the Book of Mormon together. She feels more comfortable asking me questions but I am telling you my family that any one of you might get a visit or a call from her. She has been talking about taking a vacation out to Utah and paying a visit to you all.

  1. Wow, that's completely unexpected. Good job bearing your testimony, Mom! You never know who that might affect. I hope Cecelia finds answers and peace, whichever direction that takes her.

  2. I've been without the internet for a few days - that is neat! I agree with Melinda - I hope she finds happiness and peace. Tell Cecelia that we would LOVE to have her come and visit! Maybe she should bring her sister along . . . :)
