Good News Moment
In Relief Society we have what is called the "Good News Moment". We all live so far away from each other in this branch that it gives us a moment to share the good things that have been happening in our lives. Today has been a day for one of those "good news moments" Dad was scheduled to have our "new" used car up to St. Cloud to have it checked out for some warranty service. What the mechanic found was a wheel bearing that needs to be replaced. We originally thought it might be vibrating from a tire being out of round so that is what the seller wrote down on the paper to have checked. When they got into it they discovered it wasn't the tire but the bearing and so they called the place where we bought it from to see if they would cover the replacement of the part. OUr fingers were crossed and this afternoon they called and said that it would be covered. While Brian was driving the car up to St. Cloud the phone rang here at home. It was yet another head hunting agency calling to tak to Brian about a possible job up in Monticello. I called Brian and told him to call me as soon as the car was in the shop. He did and I gave him the information. He got an interview with that company on the way down to an interview with another company. That interview went well. He had a bite to eat before leaving to the next interview which was down in Eden Prarie on the SW side of theTwin Cities. He made it to his second interview and that one went well too. When it was done he was to call the agency that lined him up with the job, which he did. The guy at the agency asked dad how much he wanted an hour and dad told him. The guy then called the company and without batting an eye agreed to the amount. While dad was still in the parking lot, I called him to find out where he was anh how things were going and to ask him if he would accept the offer by the first company . They wanted him to start at $15/ hour ASAP. He said that he would accept it so he called and told the agency that was working with that company but told them that if the second company offered him a job at 22/hour he would take that one. Well they could understand that. Then, while dad was still in the parking lot doing all those negotiations the second agency called and said that he had received a job offer from the second place and they were willing to pay the 22/hr pay rate. So dad called the first agency back and declined the first job offer. Dad will start his new job at Mammoth Heating and Air Conditioning on April 11th. For the probationary period dad will be paid by the temp agency but after that Mammoth will pick him up on their payroll. We are grateful that he will finally have work again. I am graeful for another reason as well- I can finally start planning for my garden!
