Thanksgiving Weekend

Brian, Melinda and I went down to visit Steve and Diane in Columbus, Ohio for the weekend. Our trip there went smoothly and if it would not have been for getting locked out of the car in the church parking lot the trip home would have been okay as well. There were other people on the interstate system that did not fair as well. Like the trucker who flipped the truck over on its side, and the people who lost three pieces of luggage, in the middle of heavy traffic, from off the roof of their car, or the families that lost tires/rims in traffic and the worst one by far was the individual that slammed into the side of a bridge and sheared the right side of the car off. All we saw was the police checking for their pulse. It is speculation of course, but I am not sure if they were dead or alive either before the accident or after. It was an ugly scene.
Our time in Ohio was wonderful although not nearly long enough. There was simply too much to see and do for the time we had. I felt so torn because I had to choose between spending more time with Steve and Diane or going up to Kirtland to see the temple and other historic sites. I wanted to be at both places. In the end I chose to go up to Kirtland with Melinda and Dad as I am sure that I will never get that chance again. I hope with all my heart that I will be able to return to Columbus in the Spring to see Steve graduate. I would love to be with all of you for your very special events and milestones but time and circumstances do not permit that to happen. I am so proud of all of you for the things that you have accomplished and because you have chosen wisely to not waste your lives away doing nothing. I am grateful for the Gospel that gives direction to our lives and for the teachings of the prophets to help keep us on the right path.
Our trip to Kirtland was wonderful. I was surprised to see how simple the temple was on the inside but as I think about it it should not have surprised me. The function of the Kirtland Temple was to have a place to restore the Gospel and to teach the Gospel. It was a place of learning more than doing, which makes sense. The people needed to be taught correct doctrine. The rest of the Historical sites were very interesting as well.
On Friday night Steve and Diane treated us to a trip to the Columbus
Zoo to see the lights and sites. IT WAS AWESOME! What a grand display of lights and they were choreographed to go of and on in time with the music. When they played the famous tune (sorry I don't know the name) by the TransSiberian Steam Rollers i was awe struck!
My favorite tree was the one they had decorated in blue and white lights. When the lights switched between blue and white it looked like flashes of Blue and White lightning in the night sky. It was incredible! The whole thing was well worth the time in the cold! I would recommend it as a place to see during the holiday season!
Our Thanksgiving meal was wonderful and made even more special when a couple from Steve and Diane's ward joined us for the meal and the walk through the zoo. It was a perfect day.
The house that Steve and Diane take care of was incredible too! It has Marble and hardwood floors and a kitchen that is way out there. The place doesn't look big from the outside but it is massive inside. The thing that struck me the most about the house was how organized it is. SHe has a place for everything and everything is in its place. She get's an A+ for her organizational skills. I have a whole lot to learn. Her biggest asset I think that helps her though is actually having the money to be able to afford to organize things the way she has it and then also to be able to afford the house to hold it all. I don't think I would ever want a house that big. I would just be happy to have a nice home for all of you to be able to come home and visit and actually be able to stay with us. Maybe one day.

I need to get going. Its back to the old grind for this ole gal. I promised my dad that I would bring him one of my homemade pizza's for lunch and then I work from 2:45 to 11 tonight. I'll let you all go!
Have a great day!
