Events

Yesterday Brian and I went out to the shop to try and finish stringing electrical wire through the conduit. We discovered that another set of hands would be needed and so we called our neighbor, Ron Erickson, over to help us. Sue and Daniel came with him and it turned out to be a good thing because we needed the extra help. We had a great time and the job was mostly finished up by the time we quit last night.
Before leaving Sue invited me to go with her and Daniel to a movie today. I jumped at the chance as it has been a long time since I last went out with Sue to do anything. We decided to go to a show in Hutchinson today and ende going to see Arthur. It is a strange show, truth is I slept through part of it, but the ending was strange. I didn't care for the main character but that is my opinion.
We went out for dinner before coming home. I had a club sandwich in a Tomato wrap with ranch dressing. That was good!
When I got home I was tired and sat down in the recliner and took a two hour nap. After that I felt pretty good again and so Brian and I went back out to the shop to finish pulling wire to the last outlets. That job is finally done and I feel like the weekend has not been wasted.

Since none of our children will be home for Easter I invited my youngest sister over for lunch.
I'm going to put a Pork roast into the crock pot before church in the morning and it will be done by the time we get home. After that I am going to go visit with my father. It would be nice to bring him home for a couple of days but I would not be able to give him the care that he needs. He is too heavy to be lifting and I don't think he can stand by himself any more. They use a lift on him at the nursing home to get him up. The best I can do is to go visit with him.

Monday I go down to Minneapolis to see Dr. Finne, the colo-rectal surgeon. I have a lot of questions to ask him and will need to write them down so that I do not forget them. Among the questions; Are there any restrictions on the amount of weight I can lift and the kinds of activities that I can do? I need to know that before I go investing in cattle to put back on this property. This past weeks events have taught me that I am not as strong as I once was and so perhaps I am going to have to adjust my goals, hopes and dreams to reflect my reality. If I can regain my strength then I wouldn't have any problems handling the heavy work but I don't want to find myself taking on more than I can physically handle.
I am also going to ask Dr. Finne about the reconnecting process. I have heard that it is not pleasant and that it can be quite painful. I have questions about bowel function afterward and also about how much scar tissue might develope. I question how they close up the wound in the abdomenal wall after disconnecting the bowel from it. That area where the stoma is ia about 1-1/2 inches in diamter. That leaves a huge gap to close up.
I am not sure when the connecting process will take place but that will be one of the things I find out on Monday.

It is nearly 10PM and I am ready for bed. I hope you will all have a Happy Easter!

  2. Happy Easter! (The first time I typed that, I typed "Eater," and then laughed, because that's kind of what it is, huh?)
