We finally got some rain last night! I haven't checked the rain gauge yet but any rain is so very welcomed at this stage. It has been an immensely dry year so far and the last I heard we were 8 inches short for the year.
My garden and the apple trees are really suffering despite the water that I have been giving them. Up until this past week the raspberries were doing pretty good but last night when I picked them I noticed that some of the canes are showing signs of stress. The berries on them are small and not plump like they should be.Non the less I managed to get about 6 Quarts of berries from last nights picking so I am going to whip up some Raspberry jam this morning.
I stopped by Farm Bureau yesterday on my rounds around Litchfield and discovered that I am going to be buried in filing today so I am going to want to be there early.
I also promised my Dad that I would do some research for him to see if I can help find some solution to a problem that he is having. I found him in tears yesterday when I stopped by to visit. He is so terribly discouraged and is having a hard time telling me what is bothering him but after talking with him for a while I managed to figure out what is bothering him. As I watch my Dad decline, I see how he is struggling and it makes me feel sad. There is not a whole lot for me to do except do my best to bring him comfort in whatever way I can.
It is nearing 9 AM and I need to get on with my day.
It is going to be a busy one!
Have a wonderful day!

Wow - that jam sounds mouth-watering! Good luck with all the filing.
ReplyDeleteI wish we could help out with Grandpa, too. I'd love to see him again sometime soon!
