I was up early this morning and got things prepared to go into town.
As I do not have a vehicle that is reliable to run right now I had Brian take me into town before he left for work which meant before 6 this morning. I had him drop me off at Cecilia's as that is where my old bike is. She and Cindy both worked until 11 last night and neither of them were awake so I quietly got my bike out of the garage and rode over to Beatie's house. I was there only a half hour or so and Cecilia called over wanting to know if Beatie had seen me. She invited us over and so we took off for her house. She needed to go pay bills and so did I so that is what we set out to do only to discover that they had Hwy 22 South blocked off due to road construction. Beatie new of some back alleys that we could posibly take to get us from the East side to the West side of town and so we tried them. Sure enough they were open and so we were able to get where we needed to go.
At 9 AM my dad had his appointment with the doctor so I needed to be at the nursing home. The appointment went well but I left with the firm understanding that Dad is slipping away from us mentally and physically . It is hard to watch him disappearing. His brain is shrinking pretty fast and it is resulting in the rapid decline in all areas of his life. As I watch him fade away I really question the reasoning behind prolonging life when there becomes so little quality of life left. I am not for euthanasia but I wonder if it just wouldn't be more human to let nature take its natural coarse instead of fighting to keep people alive for as long as we can. Wouldn't it just be better for them if they could go home and be free of all their infirmaties? It is a much better place on the other side.
After Dad's appointment I went over and picked up Beatie to take her shopping. I was then going to go home with the feed that I bought earlier that morning and return the truck to Ce's house. Beatie said that she would like to go out to the farm with me and so she did. She horsed around with the chickens and geese for a while and then we went inside to have a bite to eat. After a bowl of Chili and some of my Sour dough whole wheat and rye bread both of us were ready for a nap and we crashed for about an hour. Then it was back into town, more shopping , a visit with Dad, and supper at Beatie's.
I dropped off the truck at Ce's house and Brian came over to pick me up. So now we are home! Dad is sleeping and I'm typing but really need to be outside and get the chores done before dark so I'll close for tonight. Have a good evening.
I love you all!
