Reliability

Reliability is a superior quality to have in this life. Being reliable will get you further ahead than someone who is unreliable. When you get hired for a job your boss looks for you to be reliable and if you are you might eventually get a raise or a promotion because they know that they can count on you.

I put in a job application last week and received a phone call the same day for an interview. I went to the interview yesterday and I believe that it went fairly well. Will I get one of the positions? I don't know but this much I do know- If I even hope to be a reliable employee I need to have reliable transportation! Right now that has me concerned.

I took my car, a 1984 Lincoln Town Car, down to Hutchinson so a mechanic could drive it for the weekend to see if he could figure out what is going wrong with it. It has been acting up on me and whatever is going wrong causes it to run rough intermittently.Intermittent problems are tough to diagnose because sometimes the component works just fine. Naturally it started and ran well for him. This has not been the only car to do this for me. It is frustrating when they act up for me and then run like a champ for someone else. I may have to just run the car until whatever it is just gives up and quits. It will, I just don't know when or where I'll be when it finally does quit.

At least I have a cell phone so I won't have to hitch hike to get into town! Thank you Andy!

Speaking of technology and cars- I spoke with Chris Meyers from the CAR Shop in Hutchinson this morning about the Lincoln and he told me of a newer technology that they have that is similar to the technology that they use in pacemakers for the heart. Starting around 1997 they put into cars the OBD2 system so that they can hook up a monitor to the car. While it is being driven the monitor records what is happening and saves it to the device so that a mechanic can look at what is going on during any moment of the cars operation. What a wonderful piece of technology to have!

The moral of the story is that when you go looking for a replacement car make sure that it was built after 1997!

Right now I am in a great debate with myself. I absolutely hate debt but I also know that this car is becoming increasingly unreliable. The job that I currently have would not justify going into debt to get another vehicle. Since jobs are scarce in this area and unemployment is high the likelihood of finding a job, that I can do and that will support and justify such an expenditure, is not good. I want to get us out of debt as quickly as possible and that will necessitate me getting a job to help pull the load. A catch 22 circumstance for most but I think that I may have an idea that might help solve the problem. I am going to put it before Heavenly Father and ask Him what He thinks about it.

Talk to you all later !
